Bio's
Each of our members bring a unique background and diversified musical experiences that enables the band to provide a variety of music that will satisfy audiences of all ages and music genres.
Meet the members:
Terry Cherry
On lead vocals, Terry creates soulful renditions of many of the classic Top 40 recordings of the past few decades. Terry was one of the original members of the New Dimension band from Winston-Salem, NC which entertained at weddings, country clubs and private events throughout NC and VA alongside her brother Ed.
Ed Williams
On guitar and vocals, Ed started his musical career in high school and continued while at UNC Chapel Hill playing with Rufus King and the Night Owls. He then started New Dimension in Winston-Salem which performed at country clubs, corporate events and private parties in NC and VA. Ed loves getting party-goers motivated to join everyone on the dance floor.
Clint Eisenhauer
On guitar, trumpet and vocals, Clint is a consummate party entertainer. Previously hailing from Asheville, Winston-Salem and Charlotte, NC he performed with both the New Dimension and Special Occasion bands in NC and VA alongside former members of Black and Blue and the Band of OZ.
Tommy Easterlin
On bass, Tommy anchors the group’s rhythm section. Charleston born and raised, Tommy started playing in the early 60’s as bassist for groups such as The Coachmen and Blue Notes eventually leading to his role as bassist with The Rivieras throughout various periods of the 60’s, 70’s and early 80’s.
More recently Tommy has played venues with The Cruise-O-Matics and The Breakers. Tommy truly enjoys playing bass and is delighted in his role as a member of the Island Party Band.
Tom Merriam
A native of the Syracuse, NY area, Tom began playing drums at the age of 12. Early influences were Ringo Starr (Beatles), Carmine Appice (Vanilla fudge) and Clive Bunker (Jethro Tull). Proficient in many musical genres, Tom has performed and recorded with groups on Long Island, NY and Raleigh-Durham, NC.
John Ramsey
Performing on keyboards, sax and vocals, John is veteran of both the Carolina Beach Music scene and classic rock. Over his musical career, John has been a member of several popular groups alongside former members of the Swingin’ Medallions, Sensational Epics, Black and Blue, the Band of OZ and Doug Clark and the Hot Nuts. His resume includes stints with the BelAirs, Julius Cobb and the Soul Messengers, the Funky Bunch, Lighthorse Harry, New Dimension, Special Occasion, Prince Taylor and the Tides, the Lids and the Shades of Blue.
Art Benton
The versatile Art Benton (keyboard & vocals) first worked with The Blue Notes in Augusta GA which was a James Brown tribute band. He then performed R&B with The Pagans working for Ted Hall out of Charlotte. Art achieved nationwide recognition with the band The Pallbearers who had a contract with Mercury Records in 1967 having two nationwide releases (Getting Fired Up and Music with Soul).
These songs were played on The Dick Clark Show and are still getting airplay in England today. Art later went on to perform with The Platters, Drifters, Sam The Sham, Billy Joe Royal, and later on worked with many local bands in Charleston. Prior to joining the Island Party Band, Art performed with The Rick Strickland Band and showcased his keyboard talents on most of Rick Strickland’s biggest hits and CD’s. He was nominated for a CBMA award in 2015 for instrumentalist of the year.
